Woman sentenced to life for poisoning colleague in order to get her job
The Ladysmith court sentenced 40-year-old Nokubongga Dubazane to life in prison for masterminding the death of her colleague, while her two co-accused Nkosingiphle Ngubane was sentenced to life imprisonment, and Mqapheli Miya was given 25 years behind bars for the murder.
According to investigators, Dubazana had worked with the eight months pregnant teacher, Hlengiwe Ndaba, and on the day of the murder, she brought the colleague lunch laced with poison.
KwaZulu-Natal South African Police Service Spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo; “When the deceased became weak, she was taken to Miya’s house where she was strangled to death. Her body was then moved to the forest where she was set alight.
Ndaba’s burnt remains were discovered in her vehicle in a forest in Winterton in 2020.
Dubazana according to police report killed her colleague in or order to get her job.
“It was also discovered that Dubazane wanted to take Ndaba’s job since she was almost due for maternity leave. She believed that if she killed Ndaba she would get her job and become permanently employment in the position of the deceased,” said Ngcobo.
