Zimbabwean national serial killer operating in SA appears in court

Alleged Zimbabwean serial killer Themba Dube to remain in custody after Magistrate Court postponed his case to 22 January 2022. The National Prosecuting Authority says alleged Dube appeared in court on Monday on seven counts of kidnapping and murder.

The Zimbabwean national was apprehended on 3 November for the possession of a suspected stolen cell phone that belonged to a woman who was allegedly kidnapped in Lebowakgomo in October.

NPA regional spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, said Dube appeared in court in Seshego two days later on a charge of robbery and kidnapping.

“His modus operandi was to lure women and then promise them employment,” she said.

Malabi-Dzhangi said that Dube was still in custody when the investigations led to the discovery of the bodies of seven women that were dumped in different locations in Seshego, Polokwane, Mankweng and Westenburg policing areas.  The murders occurred between August and October this year.
