NSFAS urges students to submit appeal documents before deadline

National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has urged students with pending appeals to submit outstanding documents before the appeals window closes on 31 March 2026.

Acting CEO Waseem Carrim said more than 101,000 appeals have been processed so far, with 22,654 approved, 9,073 awaiting documents, and 18,108 rejected.

“Students who do not meet academic progression or financial eligibility requirements have the right to appeal,” Carrim said, adding that appeals may be considered for reasons such as medical issues, traumatic events, or a strong chance of completing a qualification.

NSFAS warned that failing to submit the required documents before the deadline could affect students’ chances of receiving funding.
