More police Officers are deployed at MKhemane Village under the Matatiele Local Municipality after the community have allegedly burnt down a home of a suspected criminal.
This happened after a thirty year old Nombulelo Ndima was raped before she was suffocated and thrown into the river. It is also alleged that a day after the incident a 12 year old was raped while on her way to school to Upper Mkhemane J.S.S.
According to reports community attacked the suspect’s home on Thursday night after a meeting with police could not produce good results. The attack on this suspect ‘ s home was for the second time as they first attacked the home on Monday burning the six conner rondavel where the suspect was believed to be sleeping.
Reports said the wrath of the community could erupt into violence that could endanger the lives of the community and more police had to be deployed to monitor the situation.
It is reported that Ndima was at her boyfriend’s rented flat in the village when two unknown men entered kidnapped and later raped and killed her. By that time her boyfriend Zolani Magqabi was out to get himself some beers before coming back to an empty room.
He reported the matter to the community and they begun to search around and they found her body dumped in a nearby river the following day.
Meanwhile a day after a 12 year old girl was on her way to school when she met a man who dragged her to the forest and allegedly raped her. She was seen by a Nogcinikhaya Mzilikazi who was just passing by and heard the learner crying.
Mzilikazi took her to school, then teachers called police and social workers who then took the learner to Thuthuzela to see the doctor.
When the Informer visited the area there was tension between police and the community. The community was accusing police of being lazy to investigate and working together with criminals. They also accused the police of protecting the two criminals by keeping them in the police station without charging them.
