Police have raided several properties belonging to businessman Calvin Mathibeli across four provinces as part of an investigation into alleged tender fraud.
Mathibeli, the Chief Executive Officer of Calvin and Family Group, is being investigated in connection with a fraud case linked to a tender registered in Johannesburg.
Authorities executed search warrants on Monday, seizing documents and other items believed to be linked to the investigation.
Mathibeli’s company operates across several sectors, including security, construction, manufacturing, farming, mining, property and logistics.
The businessman has recently been in the spotlight after he accused Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner, of corruption and involvement in illegal killings. Mkhwanazi later took Mathibeli to court for defamation and won the case.
Police say investigations into the alleged tender fraud are ongoing.
