Police in the OR Tambo District have recovered two suspected stolen vehicles and an unlicensed firearm, while arresting a 40-year-old woman during separate operations.
In Mthatha, officers searching for a wanted sexual assault suspect found the woman, believed to be his girlfriend, in possession of an unlicensed 9mm Norinco pistol with two rounds of ammunition. The firearm was reported stolen in Polokwane in 2018. She is expected to appear in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court.
In a separate case, police recovered a hijacked 2026 Isuzu truck worth about R1.2 million in the Tabankulu area after it was taken along the N2 near Tsolo last week.
Meanwhile, Sulenkama police also recovered an abandoned Isuzu D-Max bakkie linked to a carjacking reported in Kei Mouth in March.
OR Tambo District Commissioner Major General Norman Modishana praised officers for their efforts.
