Bheki Mtolo advocates for Zuma’s suspension

The KwaZulu Natal  Provincial Secretary of the African National Congress, Bheki Mtolo has been described as the leading figure that is advocating for the disciplinary action of Former President of the ANC, Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma who announced that he will be voting for the newly formed Umkhonto Wesizwe Party.

A Sunday newspaper, Sunday World, reports today (Sunday) that what Zuma is doing to the ANC while the party folds its arms infuriates Bheki Mtolo. According to NEC member who attended this week end’s NEC meeting Mtolo is the main proponent of those pushing for the party to act against Zuma as it does on many others who have used the ANC’s name for their selfish gains.

“Mtolo is understandably angry because Zuma is most likely to be a big factor in the ANC retaining or losing power in KZN in the coming elections. Additionally the majority of the NEC concur with his view points because we cannot stand by and let Zuma run amok.

Sunday World said, another NEC member in the top hierarchy feels that Zuma is nothing special hence the ANC has agreed he must be disciplined, adding that the ANC mistakes of defending him during past scandals might have given him an impression that he is “a platinum member”

“Zuma is a member like any other ANC member who joined a branch and he cannot be treated differently. He cannot walk around saying he is an ANC member while campaigning for the opposition. The ANC constitution is very clear on such misconduct.

It is said that Mtolo has lobbied other members to push for a recommendation that Zuma must be  suspended immediately. The recommendation has enjoyed the endorsement of the powerful National Working Committee. It is expected that Zuma ‘s fate must be sealed on this Sunday. He will likely be given two weeks to respond to the suspension. Sunday World reports that according to NEC members Zuma’s suspension is a matter of when, not if, because it will happen soon.
