South Africa’s South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially released grant payment dates for April 2026, following delays caused by administrative processes linked to the new financial year.
According to the agency, payments will be made as follows:
Old-Age Grants – 2 April 2026
Disability and War Veterans Grants – 7 April 2026
Children’s Grants – 8 April 2026
SASSA spokesperson Andile Tshona said the delay in confirming dates was due to awaiting approval from the National Treasury.
The payment schedule means some beneficiaries will receive funds ahead of the Easter weekend, while others—particularly those receiving children’s grants—will only be paid after the holiday.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries have expressed frustration over the latest increases, which amount to 3.4%. Old-age, disability, war veterans and care dependency grants have increased by R80, while child support grants rose by R20 and foster care grants by R40.
