The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms expected on Friday, 27 March 2026.
The storms could cause localised flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and on vulnerable roads, as well as damage to infrastructure, informal settlements, property and livestock. Areas at risk include parts of the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and most of the Free State.
Other provinces, including Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West, can expect partly cloudy and warm conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers.
Residents are urged to remain cautious and take necessary safety precautions.
