Sergeant Fannie Nkosi to face court over firearms and corruption charges

Sergeant Fannie Nkosi is set to appear in court on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, facing multiple charges, including possession of unlicensed ammunition, theft, defeating the ends of justice, and failing to properly secure firearms and ammunition under the Firearms Control Act.

Nkosi, already suspended due to prior allegations, previously appeared at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry as Witness F, where he was implicated in acting as an intermediary between suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya and alleged figures linked to criminal cartels. His anonymity was later removed.

Investigations also revealed Nkosi’s extensive links with Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, raising further concerns about corruption within the South African Police Service.

The case marks a significant development in the ongoing probe into Nkosi’s activities and their broader implications for law enforcement accountability in the country.
