Fans of the eTV telenovela Smoke & Mirrors are in for a jaw-dropping twist: popular character Jaxon, played by seasoned actor Meshack Mavuso Magabane, is set to be killed off.
Jaxon, who once made headlines after being demoted as mayor of Emnyameni and selling his coal mine shares to Siyabonga Thwala’s Zwelethu, has been a fan favorite throughout the show’s three seasons. The telenovela itself recently made waves when eTV confirmed its cancellation, leaving fans emotional and nostalgic.
According to the TVSA March 2026 teasers, Mavuso Magabane’s character will exit the show on Wednesday, 25 March 2026—but the shock doesn’t end there. Jaxon’s death coincides with his wedding day, Thursday, 26 March 2026, leaving his bride-to-be, Martha (played by Lusanda Mbane), clueless as she prepares for what should have been the happiest day of her life.
Adding to the drama, the Tuesday, 31 March 2026 teaser reveals that Thandiswa (Ayanda Bandla-Ngubane) will rope in Leroy (JT Medupe) to retrieve Nomeva’s skhwama while Ngcuka readies a sacrificial ritual.
Recently, eTV shared a clip on its X account showing Jaxon bragging about his newfound powers to Martha—a chilling foreshadowing that fans will now be dissecting ahead of the shocking episodes.
With these twists, Smoke & Mirrors is proving once again why it captured the nation’s attention, even as it counts down to its final curtain.
