Six University of Fort Hare students remain in custody for murder

The bail hearing of six University of Fort Hare students accused of assaulting and murdering 21-year-old fellow student over a missing laptop will be heard on Thursday.
It is alleged that the deceased was punched, slapped, choked, and stabbed on campus at 03:00 while being asked to reveal where the missing laptop is.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday
Monelisi Sodidi, 21, Lindokuhle Ndlebe, 25, Aphelel Qongqo, 21, Nkanyiso Nzimakhwe, 21, Siphosethu Nkomo, 25, and Mosuli Mgilane, 21, made a brief appearance in the Alice Magistrate’s Court on Monday for the murder of the yet-to-be-identified student.
University spokesperson JP Roodt said the incident happened in the early hours of the morning, it started off campus tavern and ended up on campus.
The case has been postponed to Thursday for profiling and a formal bail application.
