Spaza shops under surveillence in North West

Following a near death experience of five children from Kgololoseng primary school in Ventersdorp , the North West province has launched Latela Molao campaign.
North West MEC for Economic Development Virginia Tlhapi says her department has launched the Latela Molao campaign, aimed at curbing illegal sale of expired goods in tuck shops.
“We are doing this because we have seen in many occasions the tuck shops are selling rotten food. The tuck shops are also selling the food that are not even packaged. So, they even repackage. All those homeowners who have tenants that are not even legally in our country, also form part of the operations.”
Tlhapi says any harm suffered by consumers due to consumption of expired goods, will result in harsh action taken against the sellers.
