Bafana Bafana coach calls for VAR after squad denied goal
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has called for VAR after his side was denied what looked like a legitimate goal. Bafana registered a crucial 1-0 victory over the Black Stars at FNB Stadium on Monday, going top of Group C after collecting four points in their first two matches in the qualifiers. During the media press, Broos said VAR’s must be introduced in important games, this is after his team was denied a goal “in such important games there needs to be VAR. The goal can decide or not decide a game. Can you imagine if it was 0-0 and did not win the game? In such important games, I would like to have VAR.”
The trilled coach said he was impressed by the confidence portrayed by his team during the game”I am very proud and happy from what I saw from my team on the pitch. We made big progress in one week. When I saw my team playing in Zimbabwe, there was no confidence, determination and no belief in themselves. But what I saw today, I saw a team that was confident. There was determination, the will to win, there was discipline and that’s what I like,” Broos told the media after the game.
“We have four (points) from six. A few days ago I said if we get four from six, I will be very happy. We thought we could win in Zimbabwe and win against Ghana, but it’s the contrary now. I am not unhappy about that. We will see if we can go on like this and make progress.”
