Matatiele Netball Club to represent Eastern Cape at the Twizza Netball Tournament
Matatiele Netball club will represent Eastern Cape during the national Twizza Netball tournament later this month. They took the first spot on the provincial tournament games to qualify for the national showbiz. In an interview with the Informer, the proud coach, Mantsane Kanetsi said the team played with dedication from the local, district up to the provincial level. “We are going there to win. We are going to represent Matatiele well at the national level,” said Kanetsi. The tournament will feature all nine provinces will start on the 22nd of this month. “Our players are fit and we train every day. Even though we have challenges of facilities we believe that the dedication of the team will lift the team spirit and we will play well” lamented Kanetsi. The team has been struggling financially but has got great support from the Matatiele taxi association” Because of the support we get from the Drankensburg Taxi Association, we gave them our trophy to show our appreciation for their full support. We have had a long journey to this point but challenges haven’t deterred us from our end goal to be champions. We have knocked on other doors for support but have gotten nothing” said Kanetsi.
The team has incorporated some of the provincial players who represent the province during the current Telkom league which will continue until the month of October.” We would like some support because we are staying there for some time. We would like anyone who can help with warm-up t-shirts, running shoes, shorts, caps, sanitary towels and first aid kit,” pleaded Kanetsi.
