Triple murder accused appears before Magistrate Court
The formal bail application of the triple murder accused will be heard on Thursday, 27 at the Maluti Magistrate Court, Matatiele. Thabo Makheta(67) appeared briefly before the court for the first time on Monday. He is accused of gunning down three Faro brothers at Queens Mercy on Friday. Makheta was apprehended by the Avondale police on Sunday at his home. According to the police during the arrest, a licensed firearm was seized.
According to reports, Makheta confronted the trio who were in their car before firing several shots at them, killing two of them instantly, one died on his way to the hospital.
Seven 9mm cartridges and one projectile were found at the scene.
According to the Eastern Cape Brigadier, Thembinkosi Kwinana, the shooting is related to stock theft.
