Police in the OR Tambo District have arrested two men in separate incidents in Ngqeleni and Port St Johns as part of ongoing crime-fighting operations.

In Ngqeleni, a 21-year-old suspect was arrested at Bhantini locality after police found him in possession of a Toyota Hilux bakkie reported stolen in a Mqanduli case opened in February 2026. He faces a charge of unlawful possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

In a separate incident at Qandu A/A in Port St Johns, a 40-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly fired at community members with an unlicensed shotgun. He was overpowered by residents, and police later charged him with attempted murder and unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Both suspects are expected to appear in their respective Magistrates’ Courts on Monday, 2 March.
