UFH CONVOCATION TO HANDOVER ITS PLEDGE TO THE LATE NOSICELO MTEBENI’s FAMILY.

MATATIELE: The family of the late University of Fort Hare student Nosicelo Mtebeni who was killed by his boyfriend in East London in August 2021 is set to receive another financial support as per the commitment of the University’s Convocation. In a statement released on Wednesday, Convocation Secretary General Buli Ganyaza said the Convocation Executive is planning to meet Nosicelo’s parents on Thursday.
Ganyaza said, initiatives to support the family were first announced by the President of the Convocation, Advocate Andile Mini during Mtebeni’s Memorial service in August 2021. “A donation of R150 000 was pledged as part of the support to the family, with R50 000 already handed over during the first engagement with the Mtebenis.”
“The Convocation Executive will make available the remaining amount to honour its commitment following interventions made to support the family since their ordeal which sent shockwaves across the country. The family has been receiving psycho social support amongst other interventions that were offered through collaborations with all relevant parties. The session is planned to take place on June 23rd at Mayfair Hotel Mthatha at 10 in the morning,” concluded Ganyaza.
