The late General Prince Madikizela’s funeral service is expected to take place in his home village of Mbhongweni in Mbizana, this coming Saturday, September 18. Madikizela departed on Saturday, September 11 in Johannesburg after he got sick. He was well known for his good leadership skills in many spheres of government especially during the times of the Transkei government. He has also served in many government positions even under democratic government after 1994. Madikizela was also popular in the law fraternity in the former Transkei.
He played a cardinal role in uniting the traditional leadership throughout the Eastern Cape particularly in Eastern Mpondoland. Madikizela was also an ANC veteran who also led in many positions in the OR Tambo District Municipality.
The traditional leadership also expressed their sadness on the departure of this compatriot and community builder in his home town of Mbizana. In her interview with this newspaper chieftaincy Nolizwi Simbawu of AmaNdengane nation described Prince Madikizela as a charismatic leader who was always willing to help poor people from his area of business.
“He represented our people as a lawyer in court even if they don’t have money as he knew the high unemployment rate in our country”, said nkosi Simbawu. She sent the word of condolences to Madikizela family and the nation of AmaNgutyana at large.
Prince Madikizela survived by his wife, Mrs Nozizwe Madikizela and his children Nyameka, Litha, Nozuko, Gugu, Zolisa, Amandla, Zintle and Yanga as well as his grandchildren.
