Tragedy Strikes: Five family members brutally gunned down in Tsolo
In a devastating turn of events, tragedy has struck the quiet town of Tsolo in the Eastern Cape Province. Five members of the same family were ruthlessly gunned down in what authorities are labeling as senseless killings.
The harrowing incident unfolded on the night of June 3rd, shaking the community to its core. Reports indicate that a 43-year-old male fell victim to a fatal shooting outside his grandfather’s homestead in Mpoza location, Tsolo.
The following evening, on June 4th around 7:00 PM, residents were startled by the sound of gunshots echoing through the tranquil streets. Upon investigation, the lifeless bodies of two elderly men, aged 73 and 75, were discovered, each bearing tragic bullet wounds.
Simultaneously, at another nearby homestead, three more individuals, aged between 62 and 67, including two females, were mercilessly shot and killed. Shockingly, all six victims were from the same family, leaving the community reeling in disbelief.
According to preliminary police reports, two unidentified armed assailants stormed the premises and callously executed the victims, leaving behind a wake of devastation and heartbreak.
As authorities scramble to piece together the puzzle and uncover the motive behind these heinous acts, Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Nomthetheleli Mene, has issued a fervent plea for justice. Calling upon the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit to expedite their investigation, Lt Gen Mene urges anyone with information to come forward.
“We need the community’s cooperation in helping us bring the perpetrators of these heinous and cruel murders to justice,” stated Lt Gen Mene. “These senseless acts of violence are purely criminal and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. We will not allow criminals to inflict fear in our communities.”
As Tsolo grapples with this unfathomable tragedy, the quest for justice and closure for the grieving family continues
