Umkhonto Wesizwe Party Faces Internal and External Challenges Ahead of Elections

The Umkhonto Wesizwe Party finds itself entangled in both internal and external challenges as the country approaches elections. Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela revealed that the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has demanded the removal of parliamentary candidates Visvin Reddy and Bonginkosi Khanyile, although specifics behind this directive remain undisclosed. Ndlela asserted that the party intends to contest the demand.

Simultaneously, the newly established political entity has initiated a process of internal restructuring, marked by the expulsion of its founder, Jabulani Khumalo, along with four other members. This decision, announced by the party’s national leadership core, cites allegations of destabilizing activities within the organization.

In response to these allegations, Khumalo denied any dismissal, attributing the situation to potential infiltration by hostile forces seeking to undermine the party’s objectives. Khumalo also mentioned a purported meeting with former President Zuma, which was refuted by Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.

Amidst these controversies, the Umkhonto Wesizwe Party faces a critical juncture, balancing internal cohesion while navigating external pressures ahead of the upcoming elections.
