X Vows to Block Grok from Generating Sexualized Images

Following a public spat, X (formerly Twitter) says it will ban its AI platform Grok from generating images of real people in bikinis without their consent, the platform announced it would prevent the chatbot from doing so.

X said it will “geoblock the ability” of all Grok and X users to create images of people in “bikinis, underwear, and similar attire”

“We have implemented technological measures to prevent the Grok account from allowing the editing of images of real people in revealing clothing such as bikinis,” X’s safety team said.

The announcement comes after California’s attorney general launched an investigation into Musk’s xAI, the developer of Grok, over the sexually explicit material.

Indonesia became the first country to block access to Grok entirely, with neighboring Malaysia following the next day.

Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said it had temporarily banned Grok after ordering the chatbot’s developer xAI and the social media platform X to introduce safeguards to ensure compliance with the law.
