Xolani Khumalo to hand himself to the police amid assault claims
ActionSA’s mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni, Xolani Khumalo, is said to voluntarily hand himself over to the police on Monday in connection to assault charges against him.
ActionSA spokesperson Matthew George says the charges stem from an alleged assault involving a drug dealer.
“The suspect subsequently laid a false charge of assault against Khumalo, and, remarkably, this is what the police are now acting upon. It has since emerged that the suspect is allegedly involved in a drug-dealing racket with members of SAPS, which ActionSA and Khumalo are working with law-enforcement authorities to investigate.”
George alleged that during the operation, police raided the home of a suspected drug dealer and found unlicensed ammunition, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
ActionSA claims the suspect was later released without appearing in court, and the confiscated ammunition was allegedly returned to him under unexplained circumstances.
George futher alleged that police are working with drug lords.
“It has since emerged that the suspect is allegedly involved in a drug-dealing racket with members of SAPS, which ActionSA and Khumalo are working with law-enforcement authorities to investigate,” he said
